This girl's Instagram post about the pain of sucky in pants has struck a chord with many

*struggles to breathe*

AH, SUCKY-IN UNDERGARMENTS.

The bane of many a woman’s life. On the one hand, a good pair of Spanx or sucky-in tights can make you look and feel good.

On the other hand, they can make it very bloody difficult to breathe.

Last week, a blogger named Olivia, who goes by @selflovelive on Instagram, shared a photo of herself wearing Spanx.

“I bought some Spanx about a year ago, hoping it would slim my figure and I could wear body con dresses,” she wrote. “Do you know how uncomfortable these things are?Breathing was not an option!”

She went on to explain that she felt “tight, uncomfortable and restricted” in the first image and wrote about the sheer relief of taking them off. (We’ve all been there, girl.)

Don’t be fooled by campaign ads and TV shows and those fabulous insta models. Spanx are created to give the illusion of a flatter stomach and smaller figure. You don’t NEED them. I feel totally fine in the second photo, and I can breathe again!

Olivia concluded her post by telling followers that they don’t need to wear uncomfortable undergarments under a dress to look good.

You don’t need an item of clothing in order to love yourself. You don’t need to wear a tight piece of material in order to wear a dress or top. WEAR IT ANYWAY.

And left her followers with this pearl of wisdom.

You are FABULOUS. You are FLAWLESS. You are BEAUTIFUL. Don’t let any f**ker tell you otherwise. Love your damn self!

The post has received nearly 34,000 likes since it was posted last week and undoubtedly given people a lot of food for thought. (Like are sucky in tights really worth the pain of squashing your internal organs?)
